During prohibition in the 1920s, speakeasies were named for animals that signaled them as safe havens for drinking. A goose, known for flying fast and in formation, travels in flocks and can go long distances without rest. Originally built as a clandestine speakeasy, The Ostrich honors those who reveled here before us, who shared their drinks, stories, and laughter. Rich in history, legend has it that real ostrich feathers were collected from the bustling streets outside and stashed here, under the direction of the town's namesake, Dr. AJ Chandler. Those feathers were later sold to Hollywood’s elite, adorning flapper dresses and hats. Take a tour through history and toast to our fleeting, precious time together.
